The Northern Beaches Gets Tiny With Tiny Doors
The Northern Beaches brand new doors | beaches has been buzzing with the recent announcement of a new project: Tiny Doors. A grant-funded public art project, Tiny Doors features miniature artworks created by local children and youth. Each door is styled like a doorway, portal or other iconic structure. Once completed, they will be installed throughout the area. The project has received support from the Northern Beaches Council Library Service and Mayor Michael Regan.
Based in the northern beaches, Manly Windows is a team of skilled craftsmen who custom design and build windows and doors to reflect the unique characteristics of each property. Mark Spiteri founded the company in 1999, after acquiring Manly Glass, which had served the Northern Beaches community for 50 years. Mark Spiteri has lived on the Northern Beaches and is an expert in the local building industry. The project is part of a community effort to encourage local youth to read. The program is supported by local businesses and community organizations and has a global reach. A number of libraries in the Northern Beaches are participating in the project. If you’re interested in participating, you can visit any of the six libraries in the area. The six libraries involved are Dee Why, Manly, Seaforth, Warringah Mall, Narrabeen, Mona Vale, Avalon, and Frenches Forrest. Participants can find the hidden doors, take a photo, and upload the picture to the project website.
